LAPS FOR LAURA
Ryan is the Founder of “Laps for Laura”, a 501c(3) nonprofit in honor of his late mother Laura, supporting breast cancer research at Cornell University. Over the past three years, running in team races including the 2021 NYC Marathon, “Laps for Laura” has raised over $30,000 for the groundbreaking research of Professor Uli Wiesner, pioneer of “C-Dots” and head of the Wiesner Research Group in the Material Science & Engineering school at Cornell.
GOOD SPORTS
Ryan serves on the Emerging Leaders Council for the non-profit organization, Good Sports. Good Sports drives equitable access in youth sports and physical activity, by supporting children in high-need communities to achieve their greatest potential, on the field and in life.
INTERNATIONAL RESCUE COMMITTEE
Ryan serves as a Tutor and Economic Empowerment Coach for the International Rescue Committee, coaching refugees from Afghanistan to facilitate their adjustment to life in America. In this role, he tutors them to take the GED exam, prepares them for job interviews, and identifies viable job opportunities.
NEW YORK CITY MAYOR’S OFFICE OF IMMIGRANT AFFAIRS
MOIA's mission is to promote the well-being of immigrant communities in NYC. As a volunteer, Ryan distributes information about MOIA services, enrolls immigrants in free identification programs and educates their communities to learn about city services.
CORNELL ALUMNI ADMISSIONS AMBASSADOR NETWORK
As an alumni ambassador, Ryan coaches prospective and accepted undergraduate students on their decision-making process each admissions season. He also interviews and evaluates candidates pursuing admission.
